Written by Tim

A volcanic eruption in Iceland on Wednesday has created a large plume of volcanic ash which is now drifting southwards towards northern Europe.

Due to the adverse weather conditions caused by this phenomenon,  the Air Traffic Control Service (NATS) has made the decision to cancel a number of flights and close all London and Scottish airports.

Further information can be found on the British Airways news site.  gosimply.com will be tweeting updates throughout the day and advises customers to check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport.
