Will never use Russ Hill again - worst night I've ever spent in a hotel. I am going away again this year and will be leaving from Gatwick. Again I have an early flight but will either take a taxi, get up early and park at the airport's long term car park.

We did not find the Hotel very clean and the stair carpets were in need of replacing as they were dangerous in our opinion with black tape on the stair treads.

A really great value hotel and parking. Our room was clean and tidy, transfers on time. Bit worried after reading some of the reviews, but were unfounded.

Puddles the size of ponds in the car park, crappy cramped bathroom, Fawlty Towers attitude to helpfulness...a uniquely British experience. Good bus to airport, cheap and clean.

Hotel looks quite down at heel. Parking area needs resurfacing. No towel in bathroom, had to ring for one. Excellent to have separate dining area for non smokers. Helpful friendly staff.

Room was tatty but as it was only an overnight stop not too important. The bedding was clean and fresh. Also tea and coffee facilities in the room were all free. I thought that the transfer to and from the airport was expensive at £5.00 return until I checked the price of the return taxi fare. £12.00 one way. So all said and done, very good value all round. I will stay there again.

The staff at the hotel were friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was small but adequate and the car parking and retrieval arrangements were slick and easy. Although only a brief stay we were very impressed and will definitely stay again.

The room was small, basic and not well maintained. The coach to the hotel from Gatwick was once an hour which meant a long wait in the cold if, like us, you missed one. Other hotels had 15 and 30 mins service. While the hotel price was reasonable the meal was dear and the wine very dear for an everyday wine.

This was the best experience we have had in this service, we shall use the Russ Hill again.

For cheap parking for a short break it is very good. Did feel that we were rather on a conveyor belt as far as the staff attitude was concerned. Main problem was lack of lift for luggage to get to first floor. Return journey from Gatwick (23.00hrs) to pick up car was super - no delays - and car parked where we had left it outside hotel.

I returned from Malta ill. I am a 60% disabled war pensioner, my car had been moved some distance away. I did not feel well enough for the walk to get it,why cant they get it? Not well disabled. They should have told us. My reply. Badge on windscreen. Comment, from man sitting down, I have been up for two days, I said leave it I will get it myself, the lady behind counter was great, she said give me a few minutes sir I will get your car, the guy then got up and fetched my car. The lady behind desk was wonderful.

Couldn't fault the hotel on our outbound journey, 90% of staff need customer service training. Returning back to the hotel was a nightmare, due to no fault of their own there was a power cut at 1pm then back on at 3pm then off again at 6pm, but the way they handled it could have been better, was 6.30pm before anybody explained what was going on, we were one of the fortunate ones to get a hot meal, was no heating, hot water or emergency lights in the rooms, by rights we should have been evacuated even the fire brigade said so, lights were still off when we left 9am the next morning, no apology given and we left without even being offered a cup of tea. After been experienced in this type of job, I would have put on a buffet that night to remove the anger that most of the customers had, as they were charging for sandwiches, which was made from the turkey and roast beef from the carvery.

No frills hotel. Fine for a stop over but very basic. For the price though, it is decent value. Note that the transfer buses are £2.50 per person each way.

Would probably use again however 1hour pickup service is unacceptable at peak times. Would try to find a service no longer than 20mins.
