During this trip I also stayed at American Airlines Admiral lounge. No.1 Gatwick Lounge should take a leaf out of their book. So much more accommodating

A comfortable yet high-class and restfully relaxing experience - I was SO glad to have booked the No. 1 Gatwick Lounge and will be doing so whenever I fly from Gatwick along with recommending it to anyone also flying. Something for everyone. Children will be comfortable on the lower deck, while the mezzanine provides a welcome escape into quietness and relative seclusion with spacious sofas, low coffee tables and ambient lighting. A semi-private room lays toward the back of this upper floor, housing a huge flat-screen TV, a massive corner sofa and a table football game. Just outside of this are a couple of PCs from which work could be done or the internet browsed. Free wi-fi is available with a code from the bar on entry to the lounge, where a screen showing arrivals and departures will advise you if your flight is ready. The breakfast bar was well-stocked, and staff always on hand to help further if needed. A sheer delight!

Me and my family was in the lounge on 22 nov 2012 They were understaffed so wasted 10 min of our 3 hours waiting to sign in, then when we asked what certain type the foods were they were ignorant and when answered completly obnoxious. They then had the cleaner serving drinks. No one once came to clean our plates I was taking them to the bar after waiting 45 mins! To not have a thank you the manager ladie just took them once I'd placed on the bar. They was complety rude to my two children on many occasions who in which did not run or shout only Ate and played iPods with headphones! They also quizzed them (7 & 11 yr old!!)on what time they arrived and how much they paid when the lunch menu came out on table!

I chose this lounge in preference to Servisair as I thought it may be a little bit classier. It is an attractive lounge, but it is completely outclassed by Servisair in terms of product offering. Breakfast was extremely limited, some fruit salad, cheese, cereal and a choice of a single hot offering. There were no snacks to help yourself to, pretzels, muffins etc like they have in Servisair, and the fact you have to wait for someone at the bar to serve your drinks when there was one barman serving c.50-60 guests meant it was a long wait. This included hot drinks such as tea and coffee which had to be served to you. The help yourself concept in Servisair suits me far better.

Nine of us booked in, waited ages to be served then only one item of food came at a time .Tables were laid but not clean and no one cleared plates after we had eaten .Only the cups were taken away .....one at a time.......very painfully to watch, and they didn't rush while doing that.Only one staff member spoke, saying how foggy it was and it's not a good sign being Friday the 13th. ( great ) made me and my family feel much better. They did seem to have a great time chating at the bar together if that was my staff I would have had words ( yes I do run a large coffee shop and know its hard work but this was first thing in the morning they had only just started . Please get the staff lighter trays if they can only carry one item at a time

Very limited breakfast choice, continually running out of plates, cutlery etc. Guests had to ask repeatedly for these.
