Decor ok but dated, no bedside tables, tatty furniture held together with screws, complementory towels smelt funny and having stayed in other airport hotels sound proofing could be better.
Not realising that we didn't have to pay for the hotel overnight car park! The reception desk will give you a parking permit.
This hotel really was the pits, when we arrived the disabled parking was filled with 4x4 vehicles and family cars, when I explained that I needed ths disabled space for my husband, the manager moved his car from a disabled space, the car park and grounds looked like a rubbish waste tip, we were given the wrong order on food, and no refund was offered on the difference, the only heat in the room was a 2 speed plug in electric heater, there was only one blanket/wafer thin cover on the bed,(end of November) so we slept in our clothes, no tea / coffee facilities in the room, one towel in the bathroom,(the bathroom was extremely worn and needed a good clean) the shower nozzle was taped up, We could not wait to get out, and thankful it was only an overnight stop.
The general condition of the hotel was poor. The dated interior is not helped by a lack of a 'good clean'. Our bathroom had mould on the shower curtain, and the rest of the room was little better. That said, if all you want is a place to crash and a place to park your car then this ticks those boxes...just not a place to relax
1st room was very shabby & didn't have hot water to the bath. On complaint to reception a different room was provided. A bit less shabby but I wouldn't stay again. I would rather pay an extra £15.00 & go to another hotel. "Budget" is all that can be said for this hotel.
the staff were very helpful and speedy. all you can eat buffet breakfast was great. easy to find and very close to the airport but with no noise. we would use them again. thanks.
The room stank of smoke - we complained but were told that the hotel was full and there were no other rooms available. We planned to eat in the restaurant but it was too depressing so we went out instead!
The car parking facilities are very good and it is straight forward to drop off and pick up your car. Unfortunately the Travel Lodge rooms smell very strongly of smoke- most offputting.
On arrival we were given a room in the smoking wing which we found offensive as non smokers. We asked to change rooms and were initally told that none were available, but as we were insistent about being moved we were offered a disabled room. This was disgusting, it stunk of human urine, it was dirty with pieces of plaster missing from the wall, only 1 pillow was on the double bed and generally we were not impressed with overall cleanliness of either the rooms or the hotel. Following a further complaint we were offered another disabled room, which also had the same unpleasant aroma but also the air conditioning failed to work due to having no control available. The manager of the Travelodge was then advised by us that we were dissatisfied with the accomodation, but as this was all that was available we had to stay in the 1st disabled room but only after insisting that somethimg was done about the smell. Air fresheners were used in the room but all this did was mask the smell. Considering what we paid for the room we have to say that the standard of the accommodation was worse than 2nd rate and we would not choose to stay in another Travelodge if this is how they are maintained. The bar and restaurant area also looked scruffy and all the tables had a sticky film on them which hastened our resolve not to eat in the restaurant.
The hotel reception service was prompt and helpful. The room was well-worn but clean. There wasn't the choice of a non-smoking room and this one was definitely a smoking room. The aircon was noisy. We ate in the restaurant where the food was good and delivered in good time.
Received the service I expected and I wouldn't hesitate to use Travelodge again and Summer Parking at Gatwick. Friendliness of staff at both locations was very good and welcoming.
Overall it worked well. Breakfast was good at a good price. We dropped our luggage and most of our party at departures and then parked the cars, which saved carrying it on and off transfer buses and the monorail. The summer car park transfers only go to the south terminal, which is a bit inconvenient and greatly increases transfer times. Hotel and car park are easy to find.
Really enjoyed using the service - the hotel was very comfortable and I felt secure leaving the car.
Easy to find. Late check in wasn't a problem. Great location for Gatwick Summer Car Park.
This was the first time I have stayed at a hotel in Gatwick prior to my flight, and I found it to be much more relaxing than leaving for the airport on the day of my flights. The Travelodge was clean and convenient to the airport and the summer saving car park. It was also cheaper then getting a return taxi.
Basic but clean and tidy hotel ideal for just an overnight stay before travelling. Good situation for Gatwick and long term parking. Summer special parking staff very helpful. Only downsides were bus doesn't go to North Terminal even though it drives past and the driver on the way to the airport was quite miserable as he'd parked away from the curb and I asked him to open the front doors so I could get my son and buggy out safely - he did do it but huffed and puffed. Otherwise a convenient, safe and well priced stay.
