Copthorne Effingham Hotel reviews

Pleasant hotel in nice grounds (though mostly given over to a golf course on which guests can't walk). Bar food good, and can eat early - helpful if you have to be up at 4am and want to be in bed early! Would use it again.

Going out journey was great. Good food, two rooms were perfect. On return my truck was not where the docket said it was and after I had walked round the place four times I eventually found it at 2am! We had a family room which was fine but we though we'd see what news was on the following morning and the TV aerial was broken (No service whatsoever) but otherwise a great place to stay.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The meal in the restaurant was fabulous and the rooms were clean and tidy with plenty of mod cons and a good source of information in them. It was also nice to be given the opportunity to use all the extra facilities if we had so wished.

Overall very pleased; however, the room was a little tired and, considering it was a Sunday night, I'm sure better rooms were available. Transfers were on time and food was very good.

Stayed at the Copthorne Effingham, very nice hotel with a 9 hole golf course. Had dinner in the sports bar which was OK and they also did a childrens menu which was good for my boys. The transfer service to/from the airport cost £10 but ran bang on time. When we arrived back at Gatwick the bus came 5 mins after we left the South Terminal and our car was ready at the hotel. All in all very good, would definitely do it again.

Choice of restaurants a bit limited. Either pub grub or fine dining, not much inbetween. Long wait on return for bus, transfers not as frequent as could be. Maybe the use of phone to call when ready to be picked up may be better.

Excellent choice of hotel, ideal as a way of getting holiday off to a smooth start. Would definitely re-book and would recommend to others.

Having travelled from Devon and due to fly early next morning, the hotel provided a welcome stepping off point. The service was very good as was the restaurant, and I was able to arise next morning refreshed and ready to face the first stage of a long journey to Antarctica. The car was safe, and welcome good on my return two weeks later.

The most helpful person was the coach driver. Great rip off having breakfast at £15; they're having a laugh!!! Breakfast in Gatwick far better value and a lot cheaper!!
