The hotel was basic but clean and had all required for an overnight stay. I only had bar food however this was presented well. I would use this hotel again.

You need more than sandwiches in the bar as bar snacks and at a much more reasonable price. Expected to see simple meals.

Too many people not enough staff so a fair queue to book in. The hotel needs a make over nothing worse than patterns on all the walls, bedcovers and carpet-too busy to get to sleep!! also the room had a musty damp smell and the air conditioning wouldn't work. Would eat in the restaurant again good food, piping hot and well presented and not over priced.

We were told we had to wait half an hour for a table. There were only 4 tables occupied and still only 4 occupied at the end of half an hour. The service was slow and they seemed more occupied with laying tables than waiting on them. My food was O.K. but my husband's chicken curry was poor and he developed a dreadful case of food poisoning at the airport in the morning! In future we will eat before we arrive as there is no point in eating there! Shame as the facilities generally are adequate.

Does what it says on the tin. Cheaper than the main Gatwick car parks but the rooms are small and very basic. Needs a refurb to bring it up to a basic Travelodge standard. Next time I'd have the closer parking over a room for the night and park at the airport, even though it was dearer.

Hotel was very nice, welcoming and staff friendly and helpful. Very close to airport and very good price for the quality of accomodation. Would definitely use again and would recommend to other people!

Finding the hotel is a little tricky as it's down a very long country lane. It is sign posted but I think whoever measuered the 100m, 200m etc signs may need a new tape measure. Be prepared to keep driving. The hotel from the outside looks quite good, and the entrance hall is reminiscent of an old castle entrance. Our room however was down a series of long narrow corridors on the ground floor which eventually led to a small courtyard which looked like it was surrounded by chalets. We had to continue past this to get to our room and once there found it just big enough to get the two single beds in plus us and our suitcases. As long as you don't want to move around much you'll be ok. Tea and coffee is also bizarrly situated on a shelf over one bed. The bathroom is ok, but the shower is for people under 5' tall only. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the car was safe for the time it was left. Overall not the worst hotel I've stayed in, and it did the job but if you're looking for even a hint of luxury before your holiday this is not the place for you.

We needed 2 cars for the 2 couples staying over, unexpectedly. Having checked with the hotel, we were not told of the additional charge for the extra car, nor at check in for the csr. We were confronted with this charge on our return from holiday. The hotel staff were not at all understanding or apologetic for this poor communication. We paid full rate for 2 rooms (and therefore 2 cars). Had we made 2 seperate bookings, this would not have happened. We were annoyed at this.

really impressed with the standard of the room and the value for money it represented. The staff were courteous and helpful - despite the ungodly hour of our arrival. My wife was especially pleased with the softness and comfort of the bed and sheets and she is no easy customer to please!!

Very good,clean and a wide choice of restaurants,our only niggle,was on our return at 22.30hrs,the car had been moved to a car parking area some way from the hotel,which was not well lit or marked

Dont judge a book by its cover, how apt when applied to the russ hill hotel.Its like having a lovely looking easter egg all wrapped in gold, but when you unwrap it and go inside you find its all gone mouldy! Good point - it has a reasonable bus service...........thats it. Bad points - there are no lifts. The food is rubbish and overpriced. The drinks are expensive and my glass was minging. The room was tatty and smelly and when i got up at 4.30am for a shower before setting off i couldnt have one because it didnt work. A bath was an option but who wants a hot bath at that time of the day? The room was also very cold, probably due to the fact that it had a damp problem. Quite dangerous too as you could trip on the threads on the carpet or get knocked out with a piece of the ceiling falling on your head. In all honesty the Russ Hill Hotel is one of the worst i have ever had the misfortune of staying in and we wont be frequenting it again. Good bus though.

I hadn't used my credit card for a couple of months. I used it to book on line and the following week received a phone call from my bank as my card had been used forsome unusual activity. I can only assume it was someone who works for simplyhotels as I hadn't used it for a while

On the day we arrived we were told to park the car anywhere which my husband in the middle of a row of other cars. As we had a very early flight we had gone to bed early but were woken by a telephone request to move the car as they said it was in the way of coaches on "hatchings". Clearly it was not but my husband went to reception where they gave him the wrong car key. However he was still asked to move his car which he did. On our return instead of the car being returned to the hotel parking area as previously my husband had to walk through a very large puddle to a muddy field to retrieve his car. The engine cover plate was damaged and the car was not drivable. The manager was not helpful and we had to call the AA

with regard to return trip from airport to hotel found that one pick up every hour to long to wait after tiring journey home. We just missed the return transport as we came out of the airport and then had to wait another 55 minutes for another when we felt we could have been half way home byt he time we waited etc.

The car parking and cheap taxi fare to the airport is a real bonus, only down side was bar did not open till 5 so we were stuck with nothing to do for 2 hours.

generally a reasonable experience.good bar very good restaurant friendly staff pity about the dingy bedroom and lack of central heating car parking arrangements went very well. no lift to upper floors no assistance to elderly travellers offered. because of the lack of a lift we had to change rooms to ground floor. would consider staying there again.

The bus on the way to the airport was packed and we had to stand the whole way, with a small child, but the hotel itself i cannot fault, although it is very difficult to find.

Arrived about 9pm, our taxi having got lost in the lanes around the Hotel - more signs please! Room clean and functional with tea and coffee making facilities available. Budget room and en-suite very tiny. The 8am bus arrived quite a few minutes late the following morning but at £3 per person was good value. Bus took us straight to our departure area at Gatwick from the Hotel. Not enough baggage storage on bus so rather cramped but as journey only took about 20 minutes not too much of a problem. Would stay here again and recommend to others.

It's the second time we've used the Russ Hill and both times have been ok. The building and the room decor are getting a little dated now and we are beginning to expect more in facilities these days. However, the bed was comfortable and the place clean - it's meets our requirements for a stop-over before flying and parking for the car at a reasonable rate.
